Best Body Hair Trimmers To Keep Things Neat Below The Belt
Lockdown is no excuse to let your body hair grow wild. From Philips to Wahl, here are the best body hair trimmers to tidy up your chest, legs and everything in between.
Body hair maintenance is easy to get wrong. While we won’t be the ones to dictate your own personal styling preference short of endorsing a semi-regular touch-up at the very least, you’ll need a good tool for the job when tackling your chest, stomach, leg and groin hair. For the latter in particular, there are some obvious reasons why a more tailored body hair trimmer will serve you better than one primed for the hair on your head or beard.
Multi-groomers and balls-specific trimmers should be slimmer and thus better suited to hard-to-reach areas, for one, while they’ll also tend to come waterproof as standard for ease of use in the shower. A good one will have a wide selection of guards for styling versatility, plus all the right equipment (or, in some cases, replacement blade services) to keep things particularly hygienic. It might even go so far as to do a passable job at your facial hair, too, if you’re looking to streamline the tech in your bathroom cabinet.
During lockdown, we have been getting up close and personal with the most buzz-worthy of men’s body hair trimmers. Testing models from Gillette, Wahl and more, check out our verdicts below before you invest.

f you’re going to trust your junk in the hands of a trimmer then a little finesse goes a long way. Thanks to a sleek metal body, water-resistance and an ample array of 12 attachments, the Philips Series 7000 gives the immediate impression that sensitive areas are in safe hands. Furthermore, they’re about to taste a little luxury. And so it proves with this ergonomic body hair device that ticks all the boxes in terms of keeping things neat and tidy with a minimum of fuss. So much so that it’s entirely plausible for you to use it on your beard as well. Its sturdy, clip-on combs are even coloured grey and green for maximum hygiene should you embrace this versatility.

For much more targeted trimming than a multi-groomer, Manscaped’s Lawnmower 2.0 is optimised for the hair sprouting from that most precious part of your body. It’s waterproof, of course, its extra-small trimming teeth make for particularly safe trimming in sensitive areas, and its trademarked QuietStroke technology means that your flatmates won’t cotton on to just how much of a stickler you are for pretty pubes. The no-slip, slick and small design also makes manoeuvring around your balls and the harder-to-reach areas down there much more manageable. But while two adjustable guides offer four different hair lengths, the more creative among you might yearn for a few more customisation options. That said, you are in very safe hands with Manscaped, which offers to ship new blade modules quarterly to keep things hygienic and partners with the Testicular Cancer Society to raise awareness on how to check yourself.

Many men’s body hair trimmers pride themselves on their versatility (“this many devices in one simple purchase”). Wahl gives you a whopping 20 in its latest Multigroomer: four interchangeable heads, including a detail trimmer and foil shaver, plus 16 guide combs that’ll neaten up your chest fuzz, leg and pubic hair just how you like it. All that versatility in one gadget that can be neatly packed away in a compact kit bag (provided) is its biggest selling point, freeing up the need for any large charging docks or other more targeted devices in your bathroom cabinet. Waterproof and with an ergonomic rubber grip, it makes shower time tidy-ups immensely easy. And, with 180 minutes of cordless run time, unless you’re dealing with a Yeti-like body hair situation, it’ll last you the best part of a week of regular use before it needs charging.

For your face, the best a man can get Gillette may be. But how does it shape up below the waist? Well, the All-Purpose Styler does a pretty good job of getting up close and personal with your bits, for its price tag at least. Its slick, thin design is actually pretty perfect for this kind of grooming and one of three combs will do a fine job of trimming a bush down to size, though its relatively weaker motor might require a few more run-throughs than a slightly more technically accomplished model. The razor attachment means you could even go full Hollywood should you be so inclined (at your own risk of nicks and, for goodness’ sake, with a clean razor). According to the shaving brand, 48 per cent of women prefer a trimmed groin and 21 per cent a totally smooth one. Just something to think about next time you shower.

Offering very good value for its multi-functionality, Remington’s G4 Graphite is by no means a sports car of a bathroom gadget, but it’ll tidy you up from head to toe without leaving any notable dent in your bank account. A total of seven attachments includes a 3mm comb that’s perfect for body hair maintenance. Where it falls short of Wahl’s more customisable device (aside from the obvious ratios of seven-in-one to 20-in-one) is its battery life, 60 minutes of cordless usage to three times as much from Wahl, from a 60-minute and ten-hour charge respectively. Like any gadget of this ilk, you get what you pay for, but Remington’s could be just the ticket if your body hair grooming is only a more occasional self-care activity.
